Self-host Intercom

In-app messenger + customer support · Category: team chat & community

Intercom is the standard for in-app live chat + product messaging. Self-host alternatives cover the chat widget + shared inbox; the polish gap is around the AI 'Fin' answer-bot and the Outbound campaigns.

Intercom pricing anchor: $39+/seat/mo with usage-based AI fees.

$10 VPS for a small/medium team.
Migration sketch. Intercom → Settings → Data Export. In Chatwoot, use the chatwoot-import-intercom community script that maps Intercom conversations + contacts to Chatwoot's Conversations API. Replace the Intercom widget snippet with Chatwoot's.
Good fit forTeams that want a unified inbox (chat + email + social) with no per-message AI fees.
Weak atOutbound product tours / banners are thinner than Intercom's.
